Monuments in Spain that are worth seeing: the Alhambra, the most beautiful palace.

The Alhambra in Spain is a symbol of Muslim paradise. No wonder the Arabs cried when they had to leave her. The last Islamic city in Europe ceased to exist on January 2, 1492, when Abu-Abdullah, the last king named Boabdil, handed over the Alhambra to the besieging Spaniards. Afterwards, together with the queen, they left the castle and went into exile. On their way, the retinue stopped at a nearby hill. The king looked at the palace once more and cried. He knew he was leaving Earth's paradise forever. He was a witness of the fall and its perpetrator. The ambitious ruler first rebelled against his father, then for the money of the Spaniards, he started a civil war in Granada, to finally get frightened in the decisive moment and give the last Arab kingdom in Spain into the hands of Christians. The Alhambra, the palace of the kings of Granada, a symbol of the splendor of past eras, fortunately remained. Christian conquerors, Catholic Kings did not demolish the building, they admired decorations, fountains and gardens.

"Cry like a woman, if you could not defend yourself like a man" - Abu-Abdullah kept in mind his mother's words to the end of his days, which he spent in misery during his exile. For him, the Alhambra remained a lost paradise. For us it is an exotic beauty - alluring and still mysterious.

Wine from Spain Have you ever noticed the name and the origin of the wine you drink? Did you know, that Spain is famous for wine production? Spain is the second oldest wine producing country in the Mediterranean area. Spain produces modern wines, such as fruit or grape, both of very high quality. The Spanish wines have a potential of aging and a combination of character and diversity that allows them to conquer the world market.  The most famous wine is, without a doubt, Rioja . This red and dry wine can come as young wine with fruit flavor (Tinto Joven) or as exquisite wine (Gran Reserva). The next liquor, enjoying high popularity is a fortified wine from Andalusia, known to the world as "Sherry" - this fine can be found as a dry one or as sweet one. The last one is Cava , a sparkling wine, that's made using traditional methods.    If you haven't ever tried a Spanish wine, I highly recommend that you do!

Spanish cuisine

I love spanish cooking and the fact that its based on natural ingriedients. I love its astonishing aroma, colorfulness and most of all, its taste. The spanish cuisine was shaped through influences from many different regions. The ones that had the most influence were Arabic, English, French and Mexican. It doesn't posses a uniform way of preparing dishes, because each of the regions takes pride in its very own, spectacular dish. Differences are greatly influenced by the proximity of the Mediterranean sea, tradition or history connected with the region. It is a colorful cuisine, that uses an abundant amount of fruits and vegetables as well as fish and seafood. The richness of its flavor is due to the use of herbs. The Mediterranean climate has a positive effect on the cultivation of many vegetables and fruits, which, thanks to the presence of the Spanish sun, gain a unique taste. Spain is famous for its rich tradition of distinctive products, dried hams and the preparation of ...

Spain and the drought problem

Spain is slowly turning into a desert, and temperatures are constantly rising Today I will write about the latest news about the drought problem in Spain. The Spaniards have been struggling with the drought problem for years. Unstable weather and ever thinner soil layer make life more difficult for farmers, and it will only get worse. Recently, part of southern Spain has suffered severe droughts, lowering the water level in Murcia water reservoirs. According to official forecasts, three-quarters of Spain will turn into a regular desert by the end of the century, and if there is no way, agriculture in the south of the country, which is one of the main sources of fruit in Europe, will not survive. The climate change models used by the European Commission predict that by the end of the century temperatures in Spain will increase by more than 2 degrees. According to a special report announced in December 2018 by the European Court of Auditors, three quarters of Spain wi...
