Year's Eve (Nochevieja) is a special night for everybody. The Spaniards are
a nation that is undoubtedly able to celebrate. A New Year's Eve party lasts
until dawn. Everything starts with a family dinner. The table is abundant in
many dishes with a significant prevalence of seafood. After the supper everyone
is attending to New Year's parties with friends and families. After the New
Year's Eve party, it's necessary to eat churros with chocolate in the
morning.
The
best-known Spanish New Year's Eve celebration is eating 12 grapes to the beats of the clock striking midnight. With each
hit you should eat one grape, which is to ensure good luck in the New Year. This
tradition came from Alicante in 1909. The winemakers enjoyed very good harvests
at the time.
