Christmas time in Spain
Have you ever wondered how do people spend Christmas in other
countries?
In Spain, there is a traditional calendar of holidays,
similar to that in Poland, so they also celebrate the Navidad, or Christmas
Day. However, it is a completely different festival than the one celebrated in
our country. First of all, there's much more joy and public celebrations on the
streets. Just two days before Christmas Eve, there is a great Christmas
lottery, during which large sums of money are drawn. Most Spaniards try to buy
a lot so that they do not miss their opportunity.
People in Spain also recognize the Christmas tree as a
Christmas symbol, but they use other symbols more often. A tree is rarely
appearing in people's houses. There are also no Christmas gifts, as it is in
the Polish tradition. Children receive their gifts only on the Epiphany, Los
Reyes Magos, which is a few days after the New Year. Christmas ends with a
parade on that day. Would you like to receive gifts only after the New Year?
Do you think that the tradition of giving gifts on 24th of
december, like in Poland, is better?
Do you enjoy this magical Christmas time?
